Meiji & Taisho Hakata Nostalgic Parade
“Meiji Hakata Orai-zue Procession.”

On Saturday, November 1, the “Meiji & Taisho Hakata Nostalgic Parade” will take place from Hakata Riverain, through the Kawabata Shopping Street, and ending at the Hakata Machiya Furusato-kan. About 100 participants will join this parade, recreating the atmosphere of bygone days with scenes of fureuri (street vendors calling out their wares) and everyday life. The streets will be enlivened by people dressed as flower vendors, students, and night watchmen.

Led by rickshaws, the parade will recreate scenes with newspaper vendors, peddlers, and more, as it proceeds from Hakata Riverain through Kawabata Shopping Street to the Hakata Machiya Furusato-kan.

– Experience the Streets of Meiji-era Hakata.”
At the Hakata Machiya Furusato-kan, visitors can enjoy activities that recreate daily life and play from that era. Nostalgic features include rickshaw-cart sales, lantern-making, and traditional games workshops—offering fun for both adults and children.
