Hakata Papier-mâché

Hakata hariko are traditional Japanese paper dolls often used as decorations on Fukusasa, or lucky bamboo. Take your craft home on the same day.

Hakata Spinning Top Painting

Hakata is said to be the birthplace of the 'kyoku goma'. There is a spectacular spinning top performance held annually at Hakozaki Shrine during Fukuhaku's big autumn festival. Decorate a colorful spinning top, take it for a spin, then take it home on the same day.

Zendoji Temple

Learn about the history of a temple
founded by a revelatory dream!!

You can take your time and discover the story of this temple founded by a revelatory dream in more detail than during the Light-Up Walk.
You will also hear stories about the main hall, the bell tower, and the Moko-ikari stone (Ikari Jizo stone statue) as you visit and tour the site.

Kaigenji Temple

Guided Tour of Hell Based on the Original Juo-zu
(Ten Kings Scrolls)

You will have the rare chance to see the original Ten Kings Scrolls, which are not usually on display. After that, test your luck with an Enma-sama (King of Hell) fortune, and finally, visit the Enma-do Hall and Kannon-do Hall for prayer.

Hongakuji Temple

Create Your Own Original Talisman and Experience
the Nichiren Buddhist Prayer Ritual

You will make your own talisman by copying a sutra onto the back of the talisman. After creating it, you will participate in a Nichiren Buddhist prayer ritual in the main hall with the head priest. The ceremony will conclude with a dharma talk, followed by rubbing the largest cypress Daikoku statue carved by a single knife in western Japan for good luck.
